Projects

Valjevo Hospital was one of the four general hospitals, together with Kraljevo, Zrenjanin and Vranje, which were, from 2004 to 2007, involved in the project of Development of Healthcare in Serbia, instigated by the Ministry of Health and World Bank. Within the project, supported by contributions from the citizens of Valjevo, the construction of a 4,000m2 building was completed. The building comprises the Pulmonary Ward, with the well-equipped outpatient clinic, daycare hospital, intensive care unit and double bed and three-bed rooms with bathrooms and four suites for clergymen. This building comprises the Allergology Clinic, Oncology Daily Clinic, Coronary Unit and Pathology.

The Pathology Department was provided with modern equipment and the Immuno-histology-chemical laboratory is now being equipped. It is of the utmost importance to equip the PM theatres with new tables with aspirators as PM is among crucial indicators of performance quality.

Within the Development of Healthcare in Serbia project, the whole institution was networked and provided with the central server and 350 PCs in order to facilitate the use of the hospital information system. Electronic recording and reporting will make our work more efficient.

Most equipment for Valjevo Hospital has been provided through this project and other projects supported by IRD - laparoscopic pillar, mammography, coloscope, ex-tempore apparatus, ultrasounds and probes, as well as the elevator for the disabled and the equipment for Educational Centre, and video-conference. Within the project Energy Efficiency in Serbia run by the Ministry of Health and World Bank, approximately 500 windows in the in-patient clinic of the Surgical Block were replaced, as well as radiator valves, which will prevent waste of energy in winter and make patients feel more comfortable.

In recent years, numerous constructions and public utility investment have been made into the hospital facilities. The underground connection between the Surgical, Internal Medical and Pulmonary Departments was constructed, the heating system, water supply system, sewage works and elevators were renovated, and transportation system, car parks and lighting were built. Primary healthcare centres have been renovated by financial support from the National Investment Plan. Thanks to donors, the car pool of the Emergency Department was renewed.

Through the project Improvement of Primary Healthcare in Serbia of the EAR, a Centre for Prevention, comprising Phone-in Advisory, Diabetes and Health Dieting Services, as well as the School for pregnant women and parenting, were established within the Primary Healthcare Centre.

Healthy Women - Healthy Children is certainly the goal of all those working in the Centre for Prevention and Gynaecology Department, which takes care of the health of mothers-to-be, mothers and new-born children, and is permanently involved in women's healthcare education.
